This 10,300 word story introduces Wilton Williams, a narcoleptic. His day job is driving his cab in Bristol, and he moonlights as a private detective. But outsize Wilton Williams is a realist: he doesn’t have know about Heckler & Koch 9mm pistols.
His main worry is his narcolepsy (not good for a musher) and he solves most problems he meets by using his considerable bulk.
When a regular called Specs gives him a job to bring down a dealer, he expects to succeed with violence and throwing his weight about. And then he is bemused to learn from an old lady that a more subtle approach might bring results.
Wilton rides his cab again through the streets of Bristol in a full length novel called “Big Taxi”.
